Seriously, advertising people are such douchebags. Car commercials are probably the worst. They claim a certain vehicle is "...just under $40,000.00..." when the price is actually $39,999.00. And yet, they'll claim you can save "...almost $1,900.00..." when actually, you'll only save $1,889.00.
And, it's not just car commercials, retail commercials are just as bad. "This great product can be yours for less than $20.00." Um, $19.95 does not qualify as being less than $20.00. You're going to pay more than $20.00 after taxes. My theory is this; They claim the product costs less than $20.00 because you're only giving them $19.95. The other $1.65 (or so) goes to the government. So, the only important thing to them is how much money they get from you. They could care less how much money you save.
