This is a great idea -> Mass. mom creates software to keep drivers from texting. But, let's take it a little further. The FCC should make this mandatory for all cell phones sold in the U.S. No more of this, you-can-talk-on-the-phone-and-drive-as-long-as-you-use-a-hands-free-device crap. I don't care if you have both hands on the wheel or not. When people talk on the phone, they're more distracted.

Oh, and the reason I suggest this be mandatory for ALL cell phones, is because adults are just as guilty as teens. Yesterday, on my way home from work, I was at a red light, in a left-turn lane and I noticed the adult driver in the car behind was texting (or doing something with her cell phone). The light turned green for the non-turning lanes, but the left turn light was still red. I guess she noticed the cars beside her were moving, so - without looking up from her cell phone - she started to pull forward. Luckily, there was enough room between us that she didn't rear-end me.
