I haven't been commenting on the situation in Afghanistan. Mostly because - to be honest - I really don't know why the frak we're over there. But, I read this article and found it a little ironic.
An American soldier went house-to-house in two villages near his base, killing 16 civilians, including 9 children and 3 women. That was wrong and he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. The incident is under investigation - it just happened Sunday - including his mental stability (or lack thereof).
Here's where the irony comes in: "The Taliban called U.S. forces "sick-minded American savages," warning in an online statement that the group would mete out punishment for the "barbaric actions." Seriously? The TALIBAN is calling this a barbaric act. The people responsible for the immediate deaths of 2,977 civilians - including 8 children - on September 11, 2001 (not to mention all the deaths they have caused since then) are saying American soldiers are sick-minded savages.
