I bought a tripod a couple weeks. I bought Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod legs and 804RC2 head. The main difference between the 190XB and the Pro model is the center column can be used in either the normal vertical position (up and down travel) or the horizontal position.

I chose the 804RC2 head because the adjusting knobs are short and don't get in the way when looking through the camera's view finder; it has 3-way adjustments (front/back tilt, right/left tilt and 360 panoramic rotation); it has a bubble level; and it uses the same quick-release plate as the tilt head on my Manfrotto monopod.

Another nice feature of the 804RC2 head are the angle dials for each adjustment plain. Although, I took a silver Sharpie to the little position indicator marks to make them more visible.
