I bought a new iPod this weekend. It's a 120GB iPod Classic. 120GB!! I barely even have 10GB of music. I bought the black model and I like the finish a lot more than the last one I had. This one has a matte finish where my last one was more shiny and slick and showed every single smudge and finger print.

There are a few things I'm not too fond of though. The main thing is how this new iPod works with my remote. I've been using an in-line remote ever since my first iPod. With my last one, with the remote connected and the iPod powered off, I could hit the Play/Pause button and the current song would start. Without the remote, you have to hit the Play/Pause (on the iPod) twice. With the remote connected to this new iPod, you have to hit the Play/Pause button twice. That is, when it even works with the remote. I connected the remote one time, and the iPod only responded to the volume control. I disconnected/reconnected the remote and the iPod responded to all of the controls, but there was no sound.

With my old iPod, while listening to music, the current song would display. With this new iPod, the time, battery and lock conditions display instead.

I like that Apple now gives you the ability to control shuffling within a playlist - before setting the shuffle feature would shuffle ALL the songs on the iPod. The trouble is, when you select a playlist, you have to set the shuffle. Before, in iTunes, if you set shuffle for the playlist (or not), the songs would be in that order on the iPod.

And, finally, when browsing a playlist, it's great that it now displays the artist along with the song name, but it would be nice to be able to turn that on or off.
