NTSB Recommends Full Ban on Use of Cell Phones While Driving. THANK YOU! It's about time.

I have never understood why some cities and states say it's okay to use a cell phone while driving, as long as you're using a hands-free device so that you can keep both hands on the wheel. What the hell is that supposed to do? How many people out there keep both hands on the wheel the whole time they're driving? What about smokers? What about people who drive manual shift cars? The best thing to do is pull over if you want to talk on the phone. No phone conversation - unless it's an emergency situation, like you're behind a drunk driver or somesuch - is worth endangering your life or the lives of others.

When a person is on the phone, they are in another state of mind. It's one thing to carry on a conversation with someone else in the car, but when we get on the phone, we tend to focus on the phone conversation. And, saying that you're not like other people, that you can handle driving and talking on the phone at the same time is just like those idiots who say that drinking (alcohol) makes them better drivers. In my opinion, driving while talking on the phone is almost the same as driving while drunk. Almost every person that I've seen blow through a red light or drift over into another lane or make a right turn from the left lane or make a left turn in front of two lanes of on-coming traffic was on the phone.

HANG UP AND DRIVE! Or, "Would it make you a better driver if I shoved that phone up your ass?!" (I saw that on a bumper sticker)
