So, to elaborate on my previous post. Antoinette and I took our guns to the range last Sunday. We went to Shoot Smart, on the West side of I35, between Heritage Chase Parkway and Golden Triangle Blvd.
Antoinette fired 22 rounds of Federal full metal jacket 95 grain ball ammo at a silhouette target. She had a couple feed issues, but it wasn't the gun's or the ammo's fault. When she replaced an empty magazine, she was pulling the slide back far enough but she wasn't releasing properly in order to load a new round into the chamber. The Ruger LCP doesn't lock the slide to the rear on the last round in a magazine, which I do not like. I picked up some snap caps so she can practice chambering rounds.
She put all her rounds on the target at 50 yards, with decent groups. The LCP has fixed sights and they're really low, so aiming is a little difficult. Also, the LCP is a double-action pistol - pulling the trigger cocks and then releases the hammer, but Antoinette said that didn't bother her. She wants to shoot a larger frame gun because she said that little LCP has quite a bit of recoil.
My Smith and Wesson M&P .45 is awesome. Not too much recoil, so you can get back on target pretty quick. I fired 50 rounds of Federal full metal jacket 230 grain ball ammo. I went with a zombie clown target because I wasn't all that interested in making tight groups and all that as much as I just wanted to shot to gun and become familiar with it. With that said, I still had pretty good groups. The gun seems to shoot a little low, but that could have been me too. It's been at least 20 years since I've shot a gun and I really never was a good shot to begin with.
I took my camera but didn't take any pictures. We were too busy shooting. We definitely want to go again in the next couple weeks and I'll try to take pictures then.
